training days

I have been doing a total body workout out 3 days a week for about 1 hour to an 1 1/2-I have been using some of the moves in the book "Tank top arms..." with machines at the gym. I am wanting to step up my workout but I noticed in the book the work outs are 4 to 6 days a week-yikes I don't think I can realistically commit to that many days! If I did butt and belly sunday , than belly and arms tuesday, and belly and arms thurday - or even possibly doing ( 4 week focus on parts) butt, belly, and arms all in one day three days a week- would this not give me the same results as working out 4-6 days? if not can you explain why-Thank you so much I have been loving the book!

Re: training days

I would not recommend, working all of your body parts, three days a week. You need to give
your muscles a chance to recover. In Minna’s book “Tank Top Arms, Bikini Belly, Boy Shorts
Bottom,” she describes starting with a relatively easy level at the beginning of the week and then
really challenge yourself by the end of the week. So instead of trying to push all areas, three
times a week, it will be better if you alternate them. She also writes, “Select a different workout
each day to prevent boredom and target your muscles most effectively.” What are your goals?

I’m working out to Total Body - 1 minute workouts, six days a week for at least 30 minutes. I
alternate the body area’s I work. My goal is to lose 30 lbs. by May 1st. In order to make my
goal, I’ve increased the amount of days, so it takes me less time to reach my goal. I still alternate
which body group to work on, but on Sunday I rest. Once I reach my goal, I will take my
workouts to 3 days a week, for 30 minutes.

Hope this helps!

Re: training days

Hi grace,
Can you let us know how this approach has worked for you? Are you on track for May 1st? I'm going to look at this book to see if it's a fit for at-home working out... I have the weights, barbell, and bench, but I want to be sure that I don't need gym machines to make it work - any advice from you would be welcomed!

thanks!
